The Sweet 16 Kicks Off: World Roller Games Edition

The Sweet 16 of the Senior Mens World Roller Games Championships is officially underway in Roccarsso, Italy, and the top 16 teams in the world are going at it to claim world Champions. We’ve seen some games get out of hand and some upsets in the group stage, and now it’s time to see who’s got what it takes to raise that shiny World Championship trophy.

Let’s talk about Pool A: Czechia has been destroying everyone in their path, going 3-0 and leading their pool like they were born to do it. They’ve outscored their opponents 10-1, led by Marek Loskot, who's been racking up points like it’s a casual walk in the park with 4 total. If you aren’t on the Czechia hype train yet, better grab a ticket now. The Czechs look like they're on a mission. Italy, Spain and Slovakia all split games going 1-1.

Then there’s Team USA in Pool B, with a 17-1 goal differential. Itan Chavira and Garrett Ross are leading the charge, both with 5 points. This team is looking unstoppable, but we all know roller hockey can throw some curveballs. I mean, they did win close ones against Chinese Taipei (3-1) and France (3-0), so it's not all sunshine and rainbows. But when you’re putting up those kinds of numbers, there’s a lot to feel confident about heading into the knockout rounds. France would round out the 2nd seed in Pool B. Chiniese Taipei and Argentina would end up 3 and 4.

Let’s not sleep on Sweden in Pool C either. They’ve been quietly dismantling their opponents, outscoring them 19-3. Their guy, Jacob Tenemyr, has been lights out, leading the tournament with 7 goals. Yeah, you read that right—7 goals in just three games. Dude’s on fire, and so is Sweden. Canada, Australia and Belgium also stamped there way to sweet 16. Mexico looked like a early favorite beating Canada 3-1 and then dropping there next game.

And last Pool D, shoutout to Great Britain and Colombia in Pool D, who both cruised to 2-0 records. Colombia is out here dropping 20 goals while giving up just 2. Great Britain and Colombia look like the early favorites out of this group but both do have a heavy road to the ship. Switzerland and Namibia will join them in the Sweet 16. Swiss have some guys that can play Like Lukas Dietrich.

Here’s how the pools are shaping up:

Now, we’re headed to the Round of 16, where things are about to get real. Here’s the schedule, and you better set your alarms cause they're early ones. For all our American Fans here are the times.

And just because you gotta love the underdogs, don’t forget the consolation games where we’ve got Brazil facing Germany and Mexico going head-to-head with Japan. The battle for 17th-20th place may not have the same glory, but don’t sleep on these teams—they’ve got something to prove.

This is the moment where stars are made and heartbreak is inevitable. Will Czechia and USA continue their dominance? Will Sweden ride Tenemyr’s hot stick to the finals? Only time will tell, but for now, grab your popcorn and get ready for some Roller!
